Connect
Outlook with the Kolab Server.
The KONSEC Konnektor is using the Koalb-server
as Grupware-Server under Linux. Using KOALB and the IMAP
protocol, the Konnektor establishes a stable and cost
effective groupware for middel and and big sized companies.
The Kolab server is able to handle more than 100.000 users
simultaneously using the IMAP protocol.
Based on the
IMAP protocol, the Konnektor offers a groupware solution
for all kinds of Outlook objects, such as Contacts, Calendar,
Emails, Tasks, Notes and Journal entries. Elements are stored
in an XML format which allows them to be used by non Microsoft
clients for example with
KDE Kontact. The XML format is known as future save.
Each Outlook
synchronizes their personal and all shared folders with
the Kolab server in the background while you are working
with Outlook. All read- and write accesses are queued and
executed asynchronously. All data is available offline.
As soon as a server connection can be established, modified
items are transfered.
Administration - Kolab
offers a flexible way to back up your data based on differential
backup. Single objects can be restored. The concept offers
high skalability and performance. A virus filter is already
integrated.
Like OLfoldes, the Konnektor
works like a store provider in Outlook, it is added as a
new data file. This way, the software is able to see all
actions which are made by the user in the data base and
is able to synchronize it to the server.
The combination of open standards, for example
IMAP and XML, you can can operate without dependencies of
non-standard formats invented by software vendors.
